ICPFs 13th Annual International Careers in Corrugated Teleconference

On February 22, 2012, ICPF conducted its 13th annual, live International Careers in Corrugated Packaging & Display Teleconference. Over 450 packaging, graphic communications & design, marketing & sales, supply chain management and other business students and faculty from 17 campuses participated. Theses included Appalachian State University, Bowling Green State University, Cal Poly, Clemson University Graphic Communications & Packaging, College of DuPage, Dunwoody College of Technology, Illinois State University, Lewis Clark State College, Michigan State University, Millersville University, Mohawk College, North Carolina A & T, North Carolina State, Pennsylvania College of Technology, University of Florida, University of Wisconsin - Stout, and Virginia Tech.

"The Business of Corrugated Packaging & Display” was addressed by industry panelists Gary Parafinczuk (Vice President of Human Resources for RockTenn's Corrugated Packaging & Recycling Divisions), and Brett Kirkpatrick (Chief Operating Officer for Bay Cities). The panel presentation, jointly moderated by Lynsey Koerlin (Cal Poly 2010 graduate and Sales Executive at Bay Cities), and Ann Recke (Michigan State 2011 and Corporate Sales Representative at Landaal Packaging) was followed by a round of live questions from each of the 17 participating campuses. Both Lynsey and Ann were recruited to the industry through ICPF.

The two hour Teleconference's grand finale included ICPF's annual "Best of the Best", student design presentation competition. The student teams that earlier placed in AICC's 2011 design competition were tasked to "show, tell and sell" their winning entries by explaining the objective, the research conducted, design and other background. The student teams competed for cash prizes of $1,500 and $1,000 for first and second place.

Congratulations to the Cal Poly student design team of Coda Taylor, Samantha Grosz, Geoffrey Tall and Mitchell Benedetti for their winning presentation. The judges, audience and speakers also were impressed with the design and presentation by the Mohawk College student team of Trevon Manzo, Courtney Mitten and Toni Murphy, that won second place.
