February 27, 2007 . . . The International Corrugated Packaging Foundation (ICPF) announces the completed installation of another JB Machinery Infrared (IR) drying system in the Package and Label Printing Lab at the Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wisconsin. The donation and installation of the drying system on Fox Valley's Workhorse™ flexo diecutter is part of ICPF's ongoing nation-wide initiative to advance corrugated curriculums and an attract increasingly qualified students to the corrugated industry.
“The addition of the JB IR system to our Workhorse offers a new level of capability for our flexographic printing program,” says Mark Keller, Department Chair of Fox Valley's Packaging and Label Printing Program. “The new system will allow students to experiment and focus on process efficiency methods and wide range of value-added printing processes for corrugated paperboard. We are fortunate that suppliers like JB Machinery are willing to enter partnerships with institutions such as Fox Valley to support the future of corrugated.”
The IR Drying System was donated through ICPF by JB Machinery, Weston, Connecticut. John Bird, President of JB Machinery, echoes Keller's sentiment towards supporting the industry's future. “Investing in the future of our industry through institutions of higher education is in the best interest of our industry. We (JB Machinery) feel it's important for the institutions that are educating the industry's current and next generations to have the real world equipment that allows them to experiment, learn and take advantage of the latest technologies. It is our hope that donations such as this will allow students to obtain practical, hands on experience in an atmosphere that is removed from the demands of production and conducive to learning.”
This marks the fourth donation JB has made through ICPF including a FlexControl ink temperature control in 2002 and the 2003 donations of IR drying systems for the Martin DRO NT flexo RDC at Clemson University, and Fox Valley's WorkHorse™ flexo RDC.
Michael D'Angelo, Vice President Corrugated Products Bobst Group North America, serves as ICPF Chairman. “We at ICPF are pleased to assist in the further growth of assets at Fox Valley, a program that we also support financially on an annual basis. The ICPF/JB donation is the eleventh enabled by ICPF's donors and we are taking steps to accelerate our industry's support of curriculum at higher education institutions in 2007 & 2008”.
